In 2020 there are many different options for siding: vinyl, fiber cement, PVC, cedar shake, etc. And within each category there are multiple options; horizontal, verticals, colors, finish. Once upon a time things were easier – there was just wood!

Wooden siding has declined in popularity over the years mainly because there are lots of lower maintenance options available – fiber cement barely requires any maintenance. But there are still situations where wood siding is the obvious choice. One of those we came across when replacing the siding of a garage/barn recently in Butler, NJ.

The building had a great rustic look with existing wooden siding that unfortunately was beginning to show its age and starting to peel off.

We removed all the old existing siding from the garage barn, stripped down to the studs and replaced damaged sections when needed.

We then installed some really cool, custom, rough sawn siding over the exterior in a traditional deep red color.

To complete the project we covered the soffits with Musket Brown soffit, wrapped the fascia with Musket Brown coil and added 5 inch seamless gutters plus new leaders.

The results speak for themselves – the building is now bright and clean while still retaining a great rustic vibe!
